How to delete an AI companion account and conversations

A practical checklist for distinguishing cancellation, chat deletion and account erasure.

Independent research ✧ Source-linked feature claims ✧ No fabricated hands-on tests

Canceling a subscription does not automatically delete an account, erase prior conversations or remove content shared with others. Treat billing, local conversation history, memory stores and account removal as separate tasks. Exact settings differ, and we do not claim to have logged into each provider to confirm every menu label.

Four-stage exit checklist

  1. Cancel recurring payment through the channel where you purchased it; retain confirmation.
  2. Download or manually copy any non-sensitive fictional character material you own and want to keep, if terms permit.
  3. Use the service’s conversation and memory removal tools, noting which ones archive rather than delete.
  4. Request account deletion through the current settings or documented support channel; keep a dated record of the request.

Known provider-specific issues

Verification checklist, not an assertion that an account was actually deleted
Service Documented aspect What to verify yourself
Nectar Memory documentation distinguishes Archive from Reset and says Reset permanently removes current conversation memories. Do not confuse an archived conversation with data deletion.
Replika May 2026 privacy policy describes data rights and processing. Consult the notice for current account-deletion and privacy request instructions.
Secrets AI Shared character pages may have restrictions after others start chatting with them. Check share visibility and whether a published character can be fully withdrawn.
Kindroid Subscriber/custom-voice rules include inactivity-related maintenance; cancellation and deleting memories are different actions. Review its current subscription and help policies before disabling access.

A template for support requests

Subject: Account deletion and personal data request
Please confirm the method to close my account and request deletion of associated conversations and saved memories.
Account identifier: [email or support ID only]
Please explain any exceptions to deletion or retention periods under your current policy.
I have separately canceled recurring billing on [date].

What you should not send

Never attach account passwords, card numbers, copies of identity documents or a sensitive full chat transcript in an initial support message unless you have independently verified a secure and necessary process.

After submitting a request

Keep the confirmation email or support ticket number, then verify that your public/shared characters and profile no longer appear where the provider says they should disappear. If a vendor reports a retention period, mark the expected date and follow up if the request remains unresolved. Do not repeatedly upload personal identification just because a chatbot asks for it; use the official privacy contact process.

A common billing trap

App-store subscriptions often must be canceled in the corresponding Apple or Google account rather than through an in-app delete button. Conversely, deleting the app from your phone normally does not cancel the subscription. Confirm both the purchase channel and the actual subscription status before removing local access.

Separate cancellation, deletion and spent currency

Use three separate checks. First, cancel recurring billing in the system that actually processes payments; second, remove conversations/media if the service permits; third, request account deletion and identify any statutory or fraud-prevention retention. Save only non-sensitive confirmation information. Kindroid documents access to view/export/delete data from a read-only account. Swipey explicitly notes that deleting an account removes its remaining Hearts balance. Neither statement, by itself, proves the provider erases every backup immediately.
